The National Human Rights Commission in Libya (NHRC) has said that there are 823,000 people in the country in need of urgent humanitarian aid.

The committee announced the launch of an emergency humanitarian and health response plan during the COVID-19 pandemic. This was in partnership with the International Cooperation and Relief Organisation (ICRO), and the Ministry of State for Displaced Persons.

In November, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) stated that the ceasefire agreement in Libya paves the way towards peace and stability. “There are nearly a million people in need of assistance and the percentage of those targeted has reached 309,000. There are 392,000 displaced persons and 585,000 migrants or refugees in Libya,” OCHA explained.
