UN Spokeswoman, Alessandra Vellucci, said that the acting UN envoy to Libya, Stephanie Williams, will host a meeting of the Economic Working Group on Libya on 14-15 December to discuss policy reforms.

In a press briefing in Geneva, Vellucci added that Egypt will co-chair the talks with the EU and the US. The talks will include representatives of major Libyan institutions.

On Wednesday, the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) announced that the members of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum (LPDF) have been invited to a virtual meeting on Thursday.

UNSMIL announced on Saturday that the participants of the LPDF concluded voting on the presented proposals for a selection mechanism to decide Libya’s next unified executive authority.

In a tweet, UNSMIL stated that the meeting will follow up the discussion of the previous mechanism meeting. This will be based on the results of the vote on the proposed mechanisms.

The vote took place on 3-4 December 2020, with Williams hosting a virtual meeting to inform the LPDF participants of the results, and future steps.
