On Wednesday, Egypt’s President, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, held a meeting in Cairo with Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the crown prince of Abu Dhabi and deputy supreme commander of the UAE Armed Forces, according to a statement released by the Egyptian Presidency’s spokesman Bassam Rady.

In a statement, Rady said that the talks witnessed a consensus on the need to continue joint confrontation against threats to the security and stability of the region. El-Sisi and Al-Nahyan also stressed the need to continue efforts to solve the Libyan crisis.

Rady added that the two leaders touched on the most prominent regional files, especially the situation in Libya, and underlined the importance of ending hostilities between the Libyan warring sides and achieving stability in the North African country through political solutions.

The president and the crown prince agreed that there are threats posed by the interventions of external actors in the region that aim to serve “the agendas of parties that do not want the good of the countries and peoples of the region,” the statement added.

Rady also stated that El-Sisi reiterated Egypt’s commitment to its firm stance towards Gulf security, rejecting any practices that seek to destabilize it.
