The Director General of Libya’s National Development Agency, Mahmoud Al-Farjani, received French Ambassador to Libya Thierry Vallat and a delegation from Business France, accompanied by representatives of several French companies, at the agency’s headquarters in Sirte to discuss expanding economic cooperation and increasing French participation in Libya’s development and reconstruction projects.
The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between Libya and France while showcasing the National Development Agency’s ongoing projects and future development plans. Officials reviewed opportunities for French companies to contribute to strategic infrastructure projects that form part of Libya Vision 2030, which aims to modernize infrastructure, improve public services, and stimulate sustainable economic growth.
Sirte Mayor Mokhtar Al-Maadani and Sirte University President Suleiman Al-Shater also participated in the discussions. The meeting reviewed development initiatives currently underway in Sirte, including municipal projects and programs supporting Sirte University, while highlighting the agency’s broader role in implementing national development priorities.
As part of the visit, the French delegation toured several major infrastructure projects in and around Sirte. The itinerary included the Gulf of Sirte International Airport, the Sirte Free Zone Port, Sirte International Stadium, and several bridge projects being carried out as part of the city’s reconstruction efforts.
The delegation also visited the Al-Bunyan Al-Marsous Bridge in the Zafran area, a project being implemented by a French company, underscoring the growing role of French firms in Libya’s infrastructure sector.
Technical meetings were held between National Development Agency officials and representatives of Business France and participating companies to discuss potential cooperation in infrastructure, agriculture, healthcare, education, aviation, and port development.
The talks also explored opportunities to expand French private-sector investment in Libya’s reconstruction program.
