An unknown group kidnapped a mother and her children from their family home in the capital Tripoli on Saturday, 218TV website reported according to what bloggers circulated on social media pages interested in daily local news.

The news stated that the criminal group that carried out the kidnapping demanded a ransom of 3 million and 300 thousand Libyan Dinars in exchange for the release of the mother and her children. According to 218TV, the father entered a state of hysteria after the incident.

Notably, the militias controlling western Libya have targeted the healthcare system in its entirety for nearly a decade, according to a report by the United Nations. This includes doctors, nurses, medical convoys, and even the occupation of hospitals and health facilities.

The health sector in western Libya suffers from daily attacks, enforced disappearances, and illegal seizures, prompting the Libyan Doctors’ Syndicate to condemn the Government of National Accord (GNA) headed by Fayez Al-Sarraj.
