Libya’s National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced that it has recorded 100,277 confirmed cases of COVID-19, and 1,478 deaths since the outbreak of the pandemic in March.

On Thursday, the NCDC stated that it recorded 342 new cases, 19 deaths, and 834 successful recoveries.

In November, the Head of the ‘Advisory Committee to Confront the Coronavirus Pandemic’ of the Government of National Accord (GNA), Khalifa Al-Bakoush, said that Libya will receive the first batch of vaccines in Q1 of 2021. “1.4 million Libyans will take the first dose of the vaccine according to WHO estimates”, Al-Bakoush noted.

Libya has signed an agreement with Kovacs Complex to obtain two million doses of a new COVID-19 vaccine. He explained that the vaccine will be tested in several countries such as the UK, US, and Germany before being supplied to Libya.
