The Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, directed officials of the Joint Security Room of Greater Benghazi to grant full powers to all security bodies to maintain the security and stability of Benghazi.
These remarks came during a meeting held at the General Command’s headquarters in Al-Rajma, with members of the Joint Security Chamber.
During the talks, Haftar was briefed on the security situation in the city, and the efforts undertaken by the chamber to secure the city. They also reviewed the current work details, and future plans.
Haftar stressed the need to ensure complete security not only in Benghazi, but across all Libyan cities to free them from all types of illegal militarization, crimes, and outlaws.
Notably, the LNA Commander ordered the formation of the security room for the Greater Benghazi area in November 2020.
The Room is headed by Lieutenant General Abdel-Razak Al-Nadhouri, Chief of the General Staff of the LNA. It includes the Interior Minister, the Director of Benghazi Security, the Director of the General Department for Criminal Research, the Head of the Criminal Investigation Department, and the Head of the Benghazi Internal Security Agency as members.
