Al-Sarraj Discusses Forming New Libyan Government

The Prime Minister of the Government of the National Accord (GNA), Fayez Al-Sarraj discussed the topic of forming a government of national unity, with MP’s of western Libya.

The Prime Minister’s Media Office issued a statement claiming that the national unity government will work to prepare and create a safe environment for, “holding elections, unifying state institutions, and providing basic services to citizens.”

The statement added that the PM discussed the difficulties facing the ongoing political dialogue. The participants expressed their satisfaction with holding presidential and parliamentary elections under the supervision of the United Nations. They stressed the necessity of adherence to the 24 December 2021 election deadline, and the commitment of all parties to their results.

The meeting also dealt with the economic situation in the country after the decision to unify the exchange rate, and reviewed the 2021 budget.
