The Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Jan Kubis has arrived in Sirte to attend the 5+5 Joint Military Committee (JMC) meeting, alongside UN ceasefire monitors.

Earlier today, Head of the Presidential Council of the Government of National Unity (GNU), Mohamed Al-Mnifi arrived in Sirte to chair the JMC meeting, which is being held at the Kadugu compound. The meeting is expected to review the implementation of the ceasefire agreement’s remaining unresolved aspects, mainly the coastal road’s reopening, and the withdrawal of foreign mercenaries. The meeting also touched on police, security, and demining work ahead of the reopening of the coastal road between Sirte and Misrata.

Sources said that the meeting will discuss the withdrawal of mercenaries from Libya, as well as other issues agreed on last March by members of the JMC.
