On Tuesday, the Government of National Unity (GNU), headed by Abdel-Hamid Dbaiba has allocated more than 90 million dinars for the maintenance of aircraft belonging to Libyan Airlines, and Afriqiyah Airways.

According to Cabinet decree No. 85 of 2021, a total of 90 million and 347,000 dinars would be allocated to the Ministry of Communications for the maintenance of aircraft owned by the airlines. This is in accordance with chapter five of the state general budget dedicated for emergency expenditures.

The GNU’s cabinet has also allocated 6 million dinars to the Ministry of Local Government for the purchase of a piece of land in the Sudair area, west of the city of Misrata, to be used as a garbage dump.

Libya’s GNU is expected to enforce a ceasefire agreement signed in October, improve local services, and lead the country into general elections in December 2021.
