Egyptian Deputy Foreign Minister for African Affairs, Hamdi Sanad Loza affirmed that Egypt will continue to ‘harness all its capabilities to support our brothers in Libya in all fields.”

This came during Loza’s participation in Tuesdays meeting of the Peace and Security Council of the African Union, on the situation in Libya.

The Deputy Minister welcomed the efforts of the Libyan government with regard to advancing efforts to achieve stability and national reconciliation, including the establishment of the High Commission for National Reconciliation.

He noted the importance of the African Union in assuming its role in ending the Libyan crisis in accordance with the will of the Libyan people, and the decisions of the United Nations in a way that guarantees the preservation of the security and unity of the country. He warned of the danger of some international and regional parties intervening on the stability of Libya. He stressed the need for all foreign forces and mercenaries to leave immediately, without exception.

Earlier this month, Libyan Minister of Economy and Trade, Mohamed Al-Hawij met with the Egyptian Ambassador to Libya, Mohamed Salim. They discussed the resumption of flights between Cairo and several Libyan airports, as well as facilitating entry procedures for citizens through Egyptian ports.

The two sides discussed the preparatory arrangements for the meeting of the Libyan-Egyptian Higher Committee to be held during the third quarter of this year.

According to a statement by the Libyan Ministry of Economy and Trade, the meeting also focused on “reviewing, developing, and activating” a number of agreements concluded between the two countries in the fields of economy, investment and residence.
