The Libyan rower, Hussein Qanbour, said he is ready to participate in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, which will start on July 23rd and continue until August 8th.

In a press remarks to 218 News, Qanbour said he had been preparing for the Olympics since last February in Tunisia. He then headed to Italy on June 21st to enter a new camp in Sicily with 10 training sessions during the week under the supervision of Tunisian coach, Anis Jouini.

The Libyan rowing champion noted that his preparations in Italy will continue until the 16th of July, after which he will move to Libya before traveling to Japan on the 18th of July.

When asked about his ambition, he said “I will continue training intensively until I show a great appearance for Libyan sports in the largest sports event in the world.”

According to Qanbour, the Libyan Olympic Committee did not contact him during his current camp or even support him.

“All means of support during the current stage came as a training grant from the International Rowing Federation, however, the Libyan Olympic Committee is supposed to cover all the expenses of the preparatory camp, in order to provide the best results during the Olympic participation,” he concluded.
