On Thursday, Libyan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Najla Al-Mangoush held a meeting with her Saudi counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah Al-Saud in Riyadh.
During the meeting, Al-Mangoush reviewed the ‘Libya Stability Initiative’, as the first purely Libyan initiative launched by the Government of National Unity (GNU). This is to achieve stability in Libya in its political, military, security, and economic aspects.
The minister also announced Libya’s determination to chair and organize an international conference at the end of October, to begin implementing its provisions. These are to be based on the outcomes of Berlin Conferences and Security Council Resolutions No 2570 and 2571.
In this regard, the Libyan FM extended an invitation to her Saudi counterpart to participate in this international conference. She praised the leading position enjoyed by Saudi Arabia at the regional and international levels, according to a statement by the Libyan Foreign Ministry.
In turn, Al-Saud expressed his full support for the initiative, which would meet the aspirations of the Libyan people for peace, security, development, and construction.
During the meeting, the two sides highlighted the importance of coordinating on issues of common concern. They also touched on reactivating paused bilateral agreements, and enhancing cooperation.
The Saudi FM expressed his full support for all efforts aimed at achieving stability in Libya, stressing that he believed Libya is able to overcome its crisis and achieve prosperity for its people.
