Libya’s GNA Announces New Measures to Repatriate Stranded Citizens

Mohamed Al-Qiblawi, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of National Accord (GNA), announced that new measures were being taken to repatriate Libyan citizens who were stranded abroad.

Quarantine centers will be set up in neighboring Tunisia and Egypt, as well as Turkey, where a two week quarantine will be imposed. All necessary medical tests will be taken before citizens are allowed to safely return to Libya.

The decision was made following a recommendation made by the Ministry of Interior due to the country’s lack of sufficient medical capabilities in dealing with the global Covid-19 pandemic.

Libyan Embassies abroad have been allocated funds to provide accommodation and assistance to Libyan nationals until they are able to return to Libya.
