On Tuesday, the President of the Libyan House of Representatives, Aguila Saleh, met with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and Special Presidential Envoy for the Middle East and Africa Mikhail Bogdanov to discuss the latest military and political developments in Libya.

Bogdanov reaffirmed his country’s support of an inclusive intra-Libyan dialogue, which would create an effective government, capable of ensuring the unity, territorial integrity and sovereignty of Libya.

Forces aligned to the Government of National Accord (GNA) have taken over the cities of Sabratha and Surman, on the 13th of April, after six hours of fierce clashes with Libyan National Army (LNA).

Libya has been marred in conflict since the overthrow of Muammer Gaddafi, with two rival governments in either side of the country. The Interim Government in the east, supported by Egypt, France, the UAE and the Tripoli based GNA, backed by Turkey and Qatar.
