The Spokesperson for the Libyan government-designate, Othman Abdul Jalil, said that Egypt’s participation in the reconstruction programs in Libya is a matter that has been raised during the meetings and discussions of the Libyan government.

He continued by saying that, ”Egypt’s experience in recent years and its great urban renaissance confirms that Egypt has enormous capabilities in planning and implementing giant projects.”

Abdul Jalil added, “we are fortunate that a country like Egypt with these capabilities is a neighbour of Libya and in great agreement with its government.”

He pointed out that there has been cooperation between Egypt and Libya in the health field for decades and continues to date. He noted that Cairo and the Egyptian medical staff played an important role in providing medical services in Libya and training personnel.

On Friday, the Libyan Prime Minister-designate, Fathi Bashagha allocated 425 million Libyan Dinars to solve urgent problems facing the western, eastern, and southern municipalities. This would be through the miscellaneous item in his general budget.

He allocated 200 million Libyan Dinars to address urgent problems in the municipalities of the West, 150 million Libyan Dinars to solve urgent problems in the municipalities of the East, and 75 million Libyan Dinars for urgent problems in the south

The Ministry of Local Government requested the mayors of municipalities to provide it with “urgent and necessary projects that address problems and overcome the difficulties that hinder the provision of basic services.”

The Ministry stressed that the “required processing and preparations should be taken, and focus on urgent and periodic maintenance projects and development projects for all municipal facilities. Projects that relate to providing basic services in the first place, such as providing water, sanitation services, road maintenance, street paving, and others.”
