Advisor to the Libyan Minister of State for Economic Affairs, Imad Bahri met with Chargé d’Affairs of the German Embassy in Tripoli, Annika Engels and her accompanying delegation.
The two parties agreed to organize a Libyan-German forum, as well as the Made in Germany Exhibition. The meeting discussed the need to work on developing bilateral relations, to serve the interests of both countries.
They also reviewed ways of enhancing economic cooperation, especially in the field of investment projects. The two sides agreed to raise the volume of trade exchange, regulate capital flow, personnel movement and development cooperation. As well as benefiting from the German experience in the field of entrepreneurship.
They stressed the importance of intensifying visits between the two sides, exchanging economic information, and exploring opportunities for new projects.
Notably, the Libyan Minister of Transport, Mohamed Al-Shahoubi met with Engels. They discussed resuming flights between Libya and Germany, after an audit team reviewed the equipment at several Libyan airports.
The meeting also dealt with ways to resume Lufthansa flights, with Engels confirming the imminent reopening of the German Embassy in Libya.
In July, German Foreign Minister, Annalena Baerbock said in press statements that the security of Libya was important for the security of Europe.
She affirmed her willingness to continue working within the course of the Berlin I and II Conferences, as a contribution to the country’s political solution.
Berlin had hosted talks between regional countries and the United Nations, to resolve the Libyan crisis and hold Presidential and Parliamentary elections.
