Greek’s FM: EU Expressly Condemned Turkey’s Escalation in Illegal Actions in the Eastern Mediterranean

On Saturday, the Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Dendias said that the European Union (EU), in a meeting of its 27 Member States’ foreign ministers, has expressly condemned Turkey’s escalating illegal conduct in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Aegea.

He added that the EU’s Joint Declaration is unquestionably a clear and strong message of opposition to the ongoing and flagrant Turkish violation in Libya, pointing out that it follows the Joint Declaration adopted a few days ago by France, Egypt, Cyprus, the United Arab Emirates and Greece.

He also stressed the need for operation IRINI to act effectively to support implementation of the Libya arms embargo, which is a major contribution towards creating the necessary conditions for bringing peace to Libya and stability to our region, which borders Europe’s southern neighbourhood.
