On Monday, the Libyan Parliament held a session, headed by the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Fawzi Al-Nuwairi.

The Parliament’s official spokesman, Abdullah Blaiheg stated that the session “discussed developments in the extradition of the citizen Abu Ajila Masoud to the United States.”

After discussing the item at length, the House issued decisions as follows:

– Forming a parliamentary committee consisting of the Foreign Affairs Committee, the Legislative Committee, and the Justice Committee to follow up on the incident.

– Addressing the judicial authority to assign a legal team to defend Masoud.

– Addressing the Attorney General to brief the House on the extradition.

– Adding an article in the decision approved by the Parliament on the case, so that any future Libyan citizen will be immunized and prevented from being extradited by any party.

Blaiheg added that they will “discuss a number of draft laws on the agenda, such as the Sports Law. As well as the Law on Professional Associations and Unions, and other new works.”

Notably, Members of the Parliamentary Committee for Justice and National Reconciliation also discussed developments in the case.

Blaiheg stated that MP’s “discussed the measures taken in this regard, by all relevant institutions and judicial authorities to defend the ‘kidnapped’ citizen Abu Ajila Masoud.” The meeting was held at the Parliament headquarters in Benghazi.
