Russian media confirmed that the Vice President of the Government of National Accord (GNA), Ahmed Maetiq, arrived in Moscow on Wednesday for talks with Russian officials.

The ‘RIA Novosti’ news agency reported that Maetiq declined to make any comments prior to the negotiations being held at the Russian Foreign Ministry.

This visit comes after Monday’s discussion between Maetiq and the US Ambassador to Libya, Richard Norland.

On Tuesday, the US Embassy in Libya, announced in a statement that both officials discussed the resumption of the ‘5 + 5’ mechanism, as well as political dialogue in order to settle the conflict in Libya.

The Turkish Foreign Minister, Mevlut Cavusoglu, announced that the Prime Minister of the Government of National Accord (GNA), Fayez Al-Sarraj, would visit Turkey on Thursday to discuss political solutions to Libya’s crisis.
