On Sunday, the Prime Minister of Libya’s Government of National Unity (GNU), Abdel-Hamid Dbaiba congratulated Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan on winning the Presidential elections, before official results were announced.

Dabaiba tweeted, “I congratulate my brother, President Erdogan, on winning a new Presidential term,” considering that “this victory came as a renewal of the Turkish people’s confidence in President Erdogan’s successful projects and policies that placed his country in the ranks of developed countries.”

“I salute the Turkish opposition for its protection of the political process and its adherence to the rules of democracy. Even if they were not successful in reaching the presidency,” he added.

It is noteworthy that the Turkish Supreme Electoral Commission has not announced the results of the poll so far, but it said that the announcement of the election results will not take similar to the first round.

The Head of the commission, Ahmed Yanar said that voter turnout in the second round of the elections was very high, with a participation rate of 83.99%.

Preliminary results show Erdogan leading 52.61% of the vote, compared to 47.39% for Kilicdaroglu, after 91.55% were counted, according to the Anadolu Agency.

In September, Erdoğan and Dbaiba held a meeting in Istanbul, and discussed a number of economic, military, and political files.

They discussed increasing military cooperation through training and development for all military and support forces.

Erdoğan stressed the need to preserve the security and safety of Tripoli from any military attacks, and the change of governments can only take place through elections. He affirmed his support for Libya in the economic, security, and military fields.

They agreed on a work program between the two countries that includes military and energy cooperation. As well as the return of Turkish companies to complete the pending projects in Libya.
