“Egyptian and French Presidents Discuss Libyan Developments”

On Friday, Egypt’s President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi, discussed in a phone call with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron, the recent developments of the Libyan file.

The spokesperson for the Egyptian Presidency, Bassam Rady, said that Sisi reviewed during the conversation his country’s efforts to achieve a political settlement for the Libyan issue within the framework of the “Cairo Declaration” initiative.

For his part, Macron welcomed the “Cairo Declaration”, stressing its importance to make the political track prevail as an essential solution to the Libyan crisis, especially in light of its consistency with international resolutions and relevant international efforts.

The French President also praised the Egyptian tireless efforts to settle the conflict and restore peace in all Libyan lands.

Both sides agreed to continue the joint coordination for the implementation of the provisions of the “Cairo Declaration” initiative, especially the support of the Libyan National Army (LNA) in combating terrorism and armed groups.

The conversation also touched on a number of topics of strategic bilateral relations between Egypt and France, especially at the military and security levels, as the two presidents stressed mutual eagerness to develop joint cooperation in various fields and intensify work to advance the distinguished relations between the two countries.
