Libya & Turkey Sign Medical Exchange Agreement

The Libyan Ministry of Health, led by Deputy Minister, Tawfiq Al-Darsi is pioneering a significant health initiative. It aims to establish a twinning agreement with Turkey’s Basaksehir Cam and Sakura Hospital, focusing on bringing Turkish doctors to Libya, to perform specialised surgeries in Libyan medical centers.

Al-Darsi’s visit to the hospital in Turkey marks a critical step in enhancing Libya’s medical capabilities. This collaboration signifies a move towards international medical cooperation, and promises to bring advanced surgical skills and expertise to the Libyan healthcare sector.

The proposed medical agreement extends beyond surgeries, and encompasses training, knowledge exchange, and technology transfer. This initiative will facilitate reciprocal doctor visits, fostering a rich exchange of medical expertise. The goal is to elevate the standard of healthcare in Libya.

Training Libyan medical staff with Turkish methodologies will introduce new techniques and practices. It aims to build a sustainable and skilled medical workforce in Libya, as such international cooperation is pivotal for the development of Libya’s healthcare sector.

In the first phase, major Libyan centers like Sebha and Benghazi Medical Centers, and Tripoli University Hospital, will participate. These are earmarked for significant enhancements through the Turkish collaboration. This phase is crucial for setting a precedent for future expansions. The collaboration aims to improve medical services, and increase surgical precision in these centers. This initiative will positively impact healthcare delivery in Libya, benefiting numerous patients across the country.

Basaksehir Cam and Sakura Hospital in Turkey represents the pinnacle of modern healthcare. The hospital, covering a million square meters, includes eight specialised buildings. Each building functions as a complete hospital, equipped with state-of-the-art technology.

This smart hospital is an ideal model for Libya’s healthcare improvement goals. The collaboration with such an advanced facility will inspire similar advancements in Libyan hospitals. It’s a beacon of healthcare innovation and efficiency. This partnership will help bring cutting-edge medical practices to Libyan healthcare, significantly enhancing patient care and medical outcomes.
