Dar Al-Ifta Observatory Condemns Al-Ghariani’s Fatwas

The Observatory for Monitoring Takfiri Fatwas and extremist ideologies at the Dar Al-Ifta condemned the fatwa issued by Sadeq Al-Ghariani.

Al-Ghariani is the Istanbul-based Grand Mufti of Libya. He recently encouraged the killing of members of the Libyan National Army (LNA) and looting of their spoils.

In his fatwa, Al-Ghariani also demanded the harsh treatment of LNA prisoners who had been arrested by Government of National Accord (GNA) forces.

The Observatory stated that the Mufti issued his fatwa through channels inside Turkey. It believes such a fatwa comes in light of Turkey’s media war against the LNA.

The Observatory stressed the Islamic prohibition of murder and the illegal seizure of money. Al-Ghariani also said that Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar should be killed. He demanded that citizens fight the LNA under the pretext of “jihad”.

Several Libyan reports allege that Al-Ghariani possesses more than $100 million in Zakat and foreign funds, associated with members of the international Muslim Brotherhood organization.

The Dar Al-Ifta called for confronting Al-Ghariani as well as foreign countries that sought to spread terrorism and destruction in Libya.

It also called on the international community and all concerned bodies to bear their responsibility towards the Libyan people and halt the ongoing war in the country.
