The Brega Oil Marketing Company commenced the distribution of fuel from the tanker Anwar Al-Nasr, which is loaded with over 31 million liters of fuel, at the Tripoli Seaport.

In a statement released on Saturday evening, the company announced that, “fuel distribution from the tanker docked at Tripoli Seaport is currently underway. We assure citizens that fuel is readily available and distribution to stations will continue around the clock.”

According to the company, the tanker Anwar Al-Nasr arrived at the Tripoli port earlier on Saturday. The company further stated that fuel is available in all its depots and that the supply operations to stations are proceeding smoothly.

On February 22nd, the Brega Company successfully tested and operated the gas cylinder filling system in the city of Ajdabiya following its installation, in the presence of a specialized technical team.

This move comes as part of the company’s efforts to ensure continuous fuel supply and meet the energy needs of the Libyan population.

On Saturday, the Head of Libya’s Presidential Council, Mohamed Al-Mnifi, announced that the country is preparing to issue new licenses for oil and gas exploration in 2024.

This announcement was made during Al-Mnifi’s speech at the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) Summit held in Algiers, Algeria. He underscored Libya’s proactive approach to revitalising its oil and gas sector.

Al-Mnifi 6 the potential impact of these new explorations, stating they are expected to be both significant and promising for the sector, contributing to the enhancement of Libya’s production capabilities. This move aligns with Libya’s broader strategy to leverage its vast hydrocarbon resources to drive economic recovery and stability.

Expressing gratitude towards Algerian President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and Amir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, who were present at the summit, Al-Mnifi highlighted the forum as a testament to the collective resolve to contribute to global energy security.

The Presidential Council Head also called for an exchange of views and a joint analysis of market conditions and the prospects for the growth of the natural gas industry and its applications.

He pointed out that the tangible progress in Libya across various political and security files has facilitated the return of global energy companies to Libya. This enables them to resume exploration, production, and development activities.

Furthermore, Al-Mnifi shed light on Libya’s plans to launch major projects aimed at increasing its natural gas production capacity. Technical and economic studies are already underway to develop the country’s promising shale gas reserves, contributing to the enhancement of energy security.
