Libyan Army Expresses Condolences to Oman Over Flood Victims

On Monday, the Libyan National Army (LNA) expressed its deep sorrow over the recent catastrophic floods that struck Mudhaibi and various regions across the Sultanate of Oman. The natural disaster resulted in numerous casualties, and injuries, and several people were reported missing.

In their heartfelt statement, the LNA extended their deepest condolences and sympathies to the brotherly nation of Oman, encompassing its leaders, government, and citizens, particularly the families who lost loved ones in this tragedy. “We express our deepest condolences and solidarity to the Sultanate of Oman, its leadership, government, and people, and to the families of the victims, sharing in your sorrow with the sincerest feelings of compassion,” said the official communique.

The LNA also prayed for mercy for those who perished and for the safe return of the missing individuals. “We pray to God to grant His mercy upon the victims and ensure the safe return of the missing to their families,” the statement emphasized.

This flooding incident in Oman has brought back memories of Storm Daniel, which struck Libya in September of the previous year, causing extensive damage and highlighting the vulnerability of the region to extreme weather events. The LNA’s response reflects not only a gesture of solidarity but also an understanding born from Libya’s own experiences with similar natural disasters.

The floods have mobilized a vigorous humanitarian response from local and international aid organizations, aiming to provide relief to those affected and to assist in recovery efforts. Such events underscore the critical need for enhanced disaster preparedness and robust infrastructure to mitigate the impacts of such severe weather phenomena.

As the Sultanate of Oman works to recover from the devastation, the LNA’s statement is a reminder of the shared challenges faced by nations in the region due to climate change and the importance of international support and cooperation in addressing these disasters.
