“We should not monitor the war in Libya from afar,” stated German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas, stressing the need to “return to the 5+5 negotiating table”.

During a joint conference with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, Maas pointed out that the coming days will witness coordination between different countries on the situation in Libya.

Maas indicated that he agreed with Ankara on the need “to reduce escalation between the conflicting parties in Libya and to achieve concrete steps on the ground”.

He also stressed that “Turkey has a very big role in finding a political solution in Syria,” confirming the need for “concrete steps to prevent weapons from being sent to Syria”.
