The Chargé d’Affaires at the US Embassy in Libya, Jeremy Berndt, has affirmed his country’s support for stability in Libya. This aligns with the efforts of the UN mission to perform its duties and meet the aspirations of the Libyan people.
According to a statement by the Libyan Presidential Council, Brendt expressed this commitment during a meeting with Presidential Council member Abdullah Al-Lafi. They discussed the latest developments in Libya’s political process.
The meeting also explored ways to resolve the Libyan crisis and restore stability and peace through a comprehensive political project addressing all contentious issues. They also discussed several international and regional matters of mutual interest.
Earlier, Brendt assured Presidential Council member Moussa Al-Koni of the U.S. support for the UN Support Mission in Libya. He emphasised its role in achieving stability and facilitating elections.
On Sunday, Brendt intensified his meetings in Tripoli. He met with Acting Foreign Minister Taher Al-Baour of the Government of National Unity. They both highlighted the importance of supporting the political process towards holding national elections to fulfil the aspirations of the Libyan people and promote stability and prosperity in the country.
Brendt also met with Mohamed Takala, Chairman of the High Council of State. They reviewed the latest political developments in Libya and discussed ways to enhance and develop bilateral cooperation. Additionally, they considered how the U.S. administration can support the UN mission in reaching a political solution in Libya.
On Saturday, the Chargé d’Affaires at the US Embassy in Libya, Jeremy Berndt, emphasized the critical importance of transparent revenue sharing and a cohesive financial policy for achieving economic stability in Libya.
Berndt made these remarks during a meeting with Omar Tantoush, the Deputy and Chairman of the Finance and General Budget Committee in the House of Representatives. The meeting, which took place in Tripoli, was highlighted by the U.S. Embassy in Libya on their “X” (formerly Twitter) account.
“I thank Deputy and Chairman of the Finance and General Budget Committee Omar Tantoush for meeting with me in Tripoli yesterday. Transparent revenue sharing and a cohesive financial policy are essential for achieving economic stability in Libya,” Berndt said, according to the U.S. Embassy.
