On Tuesday, the Sebha Security Directorate announced the deaths of two of its officers amidst intense clashes in the city of Sebha, located in southern Libya. The brief statement did not provide specific details about the circumstances of their deaths.

The Directorate expressed its condolences: “With deep sorrow and heavy hearts, and with faith in God’s will, the Acting Director of Sebha Security, Brigadier General Ali Ramadan Khalifa, along with all members of the Sebha Security Directorate, extend their condolences to the families of our fallen comrades from the Criminal Investigation Department, namely: First Lieutenant Adam Ibrahim Rahma Nuba, and Policeman Ibrahim Abdulrazzaq Faraj Salem.”

At least three people were killed and ten others injured in the latest round of violent clashes in Sebha. Local sources reported that the fighting erupted between forces loyal to the eastern region and the Criminal Investigation Department forces aligned with the western region. The conflict began after Salah Al-Hassi, an assistant to the head of the “Fuel and Gas Crisis Committee,” was detained following an arrest warrant issued by the Attorney General of the western region.

Eyewitnesses reported that “Battalion 101,” led by Ahmed Al-Shamikh, targeted the Criminal Investigation Department’s headquarters in Sebha early Tuesday morning in an attempt to free Al-Hassi. The “failed attack” resulted in the deaths of three individuals, including one member of “Battalion 101” and two officers from the Criminal Investigation Department.

However, a responsible source within the Criminal Investigation Department in Sebha refuted claims that the attack targeted their main headquarters. The source clarified that the assault was directed at the Criminal Investigation Division of the Sebha Security Directorate, which later announced the deaths of two of its officers in a brief statement.
