The Minister of Foreign Affairs for Libya’s eastern-based Interim Government, Abdel-Hadi Al-Huwaij, and the media advisor to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hamid Al-Safi, met several Russian officials in Moscow to discuss ways to develop bilateral relations between the two countries.

Russian officials who attended the meeting included Ilyas Uma Khanov, deputy chairman of the Senate, and Varet Makhamichin, deputy chairman of the Senate’s Foreign Affairs Committee.

Al-Huwaij also met with Leonid Islotsky, Chairman of the International Affairs Committee of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, and Morozov Igor, Vice-Chairman of the Federation Council Committee for Science, Education and Culture of the Senate.

On Thursday, the Speaker of the eastern-based Libyan parliament, Agila Saleh, landed in Moscow to discuss recent developments in Libya with Russian officials.

Fathi Al-Meremi, Saleh’s advisor, said that the Speaker was accompanied by Foreign Minister Abdel-Hadi Al-Huwaij during the visit.
