The National Oil Corporation (NOC) and Sonatrach Libya discussed the Algerian company’s exploration activities in the Ghadames Basin, specifically in Blocks 95 and 96, during 2024. The meeting also focused on proposed plans for 2025.

Held at the NOC headquarters in Tripoli, the technical meeting reviewed preparations to resume drilling operations at exploratory well A1-96/2, which has been inactive since 2014. Drilling is expected to recommence soon.

The session also evaluated seismic survey interpretations and assessed discovered prospects in Blocks 95 and 96, with a view to presenting them as drill-ready prospects.

The meeting was attended by the acting Director of Exploration at the NOC, the General Manager of Sonatrach Libya and his deputy, Sonatrach’s exploration director, and technical specialists from both sides.

Additionally, a team from Oil India, a partner in Sonatrach’s Libyan projects, joined the meeting via video conferencing to contribute to discussions about the shared developments in Blocks 95 and 96.
