US President Joe Biden has reiterated his country’s commitment to supporting Libya’s stability, sovereignty, and unity.

His message came in a congratulatory note to Mohamed al-Mnifi, Chairman of Libya’s Presidential Council, marking the nation’s 73rd Independence Anniversary, celebrated annually on 24 December.

According to the Presidential Council’s media office, Biden emphasised the United States’ dedication to aiding Libyan partners in strengthening political, economic, and security ties. He highlighted the importance of fostering deep collaborations across Libya to ensure long-term stability and prosperity.

In addition to Biden’s message, al-Mnifi received congratulatory notes from Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Chad’s President Mahamat Idriss Déby.

Déby’s letter expressed warm wishes on behalf of the Chadian people and government. “On the occasion of Libya’s national holiday, I extend my heartfelt congratulations and best wishes for health, peace, and prosperity,” he wrote.

These messages reflect growing international interest in Libya’s political stability and development, particularly as the nation continues to navigate its path toward unity and governance amid ongoing challenges.

Libya’s Independence Day serves as a reminder of the country’s hard-fought liberation in 1951, achieved through the efforts of its founders.

Global leaders, through such gestures, aim to emphasise their support for Libya’s sovereignty and progress, encouraging collective efforts to overcome its current challenges.
