Aisha Gaddafi Appeals to Lebanese President Over Brother’s Detention

In a letter made public by Africa News Portal, Aisha Gaddafi has called upon the Lebanese President to adhere to reason and justice in addressing the detention of her brother, Hannibal Gaddafi, claiming his innocence does not require proof.

In her plea, Aisha Gaddafi expressed her disillusionment with the Sadr family, who she accused of orchestrating a “farce” by abducting her brother from Syria and involving the Lebanese President in a baseless case. “At a time when truth wears a disguise and the wolf dons the lamb’s clothing, I am not surprised by the Sadr family’s theatrics that involve the Lebanese President in an unjust cause,” she stated.

She criticised the Sadr family’s continuous exploitation of the situation, questioning, “Who really is the oppressor, and who is falsely and maliciously the oppressed?” She highlighted her brother’s decade-long imprisonment without trial, emphasising his dire need for ‘just a breath of air.’

Aisha reiterated her call to the Lebanese head of state: “I urge the President of Lebanon to deeply consider the voice of reason, conscience, and the other side, if only for fairness’ sake, and not to fall into a historical pit of disgrace… I rely on him and the Lebanese government and all its vibrant forces to push towards implementing justice, heed the language of reason, logic, and law, and end a decades-long ordeal motivated only by sadistic whims and vengeful mindsets that harbor nothing but hatred and know only an outdated language of spite.”

Hannibal Gaddafi was detained in Lebanon in December 2015, allegedly for withholding information regarding the disappearance of Musa al-Sadr, a charge he denies as illogical given the timeline of his birth and the alleged disappearance.
