The High National Elections Commission (HNEC) has launched a nationwide voter registration awareness campaign to encourage citizens to register for upcoming municipal elections in 2025. This initiative is part of a broader effort to promote electoral participation and ensure an inclusive democratic process.
The campaign is being conducted in collaboration with civil society organizations, student unions, the Libyan Scouts and Guides, the Libyan Red Crescent, the Youth Hostels Movement, and local youth councils. Additionally, awareness ambassadors and volunteer agencies are playing a key role in reaching communities across Libya.
The primary goal is to increase voter registration in municipalities included in the second phase of the 2025 municipal elections. To achieve this, HNEC’s awareness coordinators and partners are distributing educational brochures and promotional materials to residents, emphasizing the importance of voter participation.
Local radio stations are broadcasting public service announcements, while national TV channels are airing video campaigns to extend outreach. These efforts aim to engage all segments of society, ensuring that election-related messages are widely disseminated.
The campaign, which will run for three weeks, employs innovative communication strategies to maximize engagement. By using modern outreach techniques, the initiative seeks to reach as many eligible voters as possible, reinforcing the role of citizens in shaping Libya’s future. The ultimate objective is to strengthen democratic participation and empower the Libyan people to play an active role in the decision-making process.
