Libya’s Coast Guard has rescued 20 migrants attempting to reach Europe off the coast of Mellita near Zuwara, according to an Interior Ministry statement.

The General Directorate of Coastal Security received a report regarding a group of migrants stranded in their damaged boat, about 18 miles east of Mellita, the statement added.

The MoI indicated that the migrants who were of various nationalities were given humanitarian, and medical assistance once they were returned to shore. They will be handed over to the illegal immigration shelter in Zuwara.
