Saddam Haftar, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army, said he held a phone call with Massad Boulos, senior adviser to US President Donald Trump for Arab and African affairs, to discuss Libya’s political future, institutional unification, and national reconciliation.
According to Haftar, the talks focused on the need to unify Libya’s divided institutions and support a comprehensive national reconciliation process that includes all Libyan regions and communities.
He said both sides discussed the importance of building an inclusive political process that meets the aspirations of the Libyan people and helps end years of political and institutional division.
Haftar added that the US side reaffirmed Washington’s continued support for efforts to strengthen Libyan state institutions and advance the political track toward broad solutions capable of restoring stability.
Boulos also expressed Washington’s interest in strengthening bilateral relations with Libya and expanding cooperation between the two countries, particularly in areas linked to political stability, security, development, and regional cooperation.
For his part, Haftar renewed the General Command’s commitment to its national project aimed at unifying Libya and its institutions. He said the leadership would continue supporting initiatives that contribute to comprehensive national reconciliation and stability across the country.
Haftar also said the General Command looks forward to continued close cooperation with the United States in a way that serves mutual interests and supports security, stability, and development in Libya during the coming phase.
