Sirte has inaugurated its Central Clinics Complex as part of the ongoing reconstruction and development projects overseen by the National Development Authority.
This project is part of a broader initiative aimed at rehabilitating, upgrading, and maintaining healthcare facilities in the city—a step considered unprecedented in Libya’s urban development.
Thursday’s inauguration ceremony was attended by the Executive Director of the National Development Authority, Mahmoud Al-Farjani, along with several local government officials and representatives from various sectors, including healthcare.
During the event, speakers highlighted the pivotal role of the Libyan National Army (LNA) in supporting reconstruction and development efforts in collaboration with the National Development Authority.
Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, officials and attendees toured the complex, inspecting its advanced medical facilities, including laboratory units, CT scan centers, and state-of-the-art medical equipment.
The launch of this facility marks a significant enhancement to the city’s healthcare infrastructure, improving access to modern medical services for Sirte’s residents.
Libya has been in chaos since a NATO-backed uprising toppled longtime leader Muammar Gaddafi in 2011. The county has for years been split between rival administrations.

Despite the ceasefire, security remains a significant concern with sporadic fighting and the presence of mercenaries and foreign fighters. The unification of the military and the removal of foreign forces are crucial challenges.
