Libya Launches Digital Platform for Commercial Ship Arrivals

Libya’s Ministry of Economy and Trade has announced the activation of electronic notifications for commercial ship arrivals through the national trade portal “PTS”, marking a step forward in the country’s digital transformation in trade logistics.

According to a statement published on the ministry’s official Facebook page, the move follows joint operational agreements between the Libya Trade Network (LTN), the Ports and Maritime Transport Authority, and the Chamber of Maritime Navigation.

The ministry confirmed that the system now enables port inspection offices to electronically receive arrival notices and cargo manifests for commercial vessels, using standardised templates and approved procedures.

This development is part of a broader modernisation programme led by the Ministry of Economy and Trade, in coordination with the Ministry of Transport, aimed at enhancing digitalisation and streamlining operations in trade-related sectors—particularly logistics.

The initiative reflects ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure and implement smart solutions across key sectors, with the goal of facilitating trade, reducing bureaucracy, and accelerating clearance processes at ports.

The Libya Trade Network is currently executing a comprehensive plan to support the ministry’s digital transformation strategy, which includes upgrading digital infrastructure and improving Libya’s standing in international trade facilitation and business environment rankings.

Officials have highlighted that the PTS platform represents a foundational step in transforming Libya’s ports into more competitive and efficient gateways, essential for increasing transparency and reliability in commercial shipping operations.

This digital integration is expected to enhance coordination between government agencies and private stakeholders, promote compliance with international maritime standards, and attract more investment into Libya’s trade and logistics sectors.
