Libya’s eastern city of Benghazi will host the first Annual Arab Media Conference from September 15 to 17, 2025, bringing together leading journalists, analysts, and media professionals from across the Arab world.

The event is designed as a landmark platform for dialogue on the current state and future of Arab media. Its agenda will include panel discussions, workshops, and case studies addressing some of the most pressing issues in the field. Topics will cover the role of media in the digital age, the challenges of reporting from conflict zones, the importance of media identity in preserving social cohesion, and the growing influence of sports journalism on public opinion.

Among the most anticipated sessions is “May Chidiac: A Voice That Cannot Be Broken,” featuring the renowned Lebanese journalist. Another panel, “Media in Conflict Zones,” will bring together regional experts to explore the responsibilities and risks of reporting during crises. Participants will also debate ways to raise professional standards and shape future strategies for Arab media in the digital era.

In a symbolic recognition of Libya’s media legacy, the conference will also honor pioneers of Libyan broadcasting who laid the foundations of national radio and television between 1965 and 1977. Organizers said the tribute is meant to link new generations of journalists with the roots of the profession in the country.

The program is being prepared by a committee led by Libyan writer Salem Al-Hindawi, alongside academics and media figures such as Dr. Yasem Al-Jamal and Dr. Arafat Mayouf. The event is supported by several media and economic institutions.
