The President of Libya’s Audit Bureau, Khaled Shakshak, held a meeting in Tripoli with Egypt’s Ambassador to Libya, Tamer El-Hefny, to discuss the status of Egyptian companies carrying out development projects across the country. The talks, held at the Bureau’s headquarters in the Zawiyat Dahmani district, focused on ensuring that all contracted firms operate in line with Libyan legislation and established governance requirements.
During the meeting, Shakshak highlighted the central role of the Audit Bureau in safeguarding public funds and ensuring efficient and effective public spending. He underscored the importance of strengthening coordination between the Libyan and Egyptian oversight bodies to support shared interests and enhance the integrity of joint development initiatives.
Shakshak also praised the efforts of Egypt’s Central Auditing Organization (CAO) for hosting and organizing the 25th General Assembly of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI), which took place in Sharm El-Sheikh in October. He noted that the successful event represented an exemplary model of international audit cooperation and professionalism.
Following the meeting, the Audit Bureau President accompanied the Egyptian ambassador on a tour of the institution’s administrative and technical facilities. Ambassador El-Hefny expressed his appreciation for the Audit Bureau’s high level of organisation and professional standards, noting that such capabilities significantly reinforce the effectiveness of Libya’s national oversight system.
