The Libyan government, heaed by Prime Minister Osama Hammad, has reassured citizens that the overall condition of dams across the country remains safe and stable, despite continued rainfall affecting several eastern regions.

The Ministry of Water Resources confirmed that current assessments show no cause for concern and that all major dams are operating within safe parameters.

In an official statement, the ministry said that rainfall continues to affect eastern Libya, extending toward the city of Tobruk, but emphasized that technical evaluations indicate reassuring conditions across the country’s water infrastructure.

It added that the monitoring teams remain deployed in the field around the clock as part of an approved emergency preparedness plan designed to detect any potential risks at an early stage.

According to the ministry, key facilities including Wadi Qattara Dam and Wadi Zaza Dam are in excellent condition, with no structural or operational indicators suggesting danger.

Authorities confirmed that these dams are undergoing continuous inspection and real-time monitoring to ensure their integrity throughout the current weather conditions.

The government has placed particular emphasis on preparedness and coordination during the rainy season, especially in eastern regions that are more vulnerable to weather fluctuations. Officials stressed that emergency readiness remains at its highest level, with close coordination between engineering teams, local authorities, and emergency services.

The ministry also confirmed that weather developments are being monitored continuously in cooperation with national meteorological authorities. While no immediate threats have been identified, precautionary measures remain in effect to ensure the safety of both infrastructure and nearby communities.

Citizens were urged to adhere strictly to public safety guidelines, particularly by avoiding valleys, waterways, and areas where floodwaters may accumulate.
