Libyan MP: “Stephanie Williams cannot solve Libyan crisis”

Ali Al-Saeedi, a member of the Libyan House of Representatives (HoR), said that Acting SRSG Stephanie Williams knows very well that the Libyan crisis is a security crisis, and assigning her to lead the United Nations Special Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) would not help solve it.

In a statement، Al-Saeedi argued that Williams is not capable of continuing the UN’s three-track peace process as this will continue to be frozen for the time being, especially amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

He also claimed that the Libyan National Army (LNA) committed to the truce before President Vladimir Putin of Russia, but that the militias are not willing to yield to the agreement.
