The 14th session of the Libyan–Egyptian Joint Consular Committee concluded in Tripoli with both sides agreeing to strengthen bilateral cooperation across a wide range of key sectors. The meetings, held over two days, reflected continued efforts to enhance coordination and address shared priorities between the two neighboring countries.

According to Egypt’s Foreign Ministry, the discussions took place in a positive and constructive atmosphere, underscoring the depth of relations between Libya and Egypt. The Egyptian delegation was led by Assistant Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs, Haddad El-Gohary, while the Libyan delegation was headed by Mahmoud Al-Zarqani, Director of the Consular Affairs Department at the Foreign Ministry of the Government of National Unity. Representatives from several ministries and relevant institutions from both countries also participated.

The talks covered a broad range of issues, with a particular focus on regulating residency conditions for citizens in both countries and improving labor cooperation. Discussions also addressed transportation links, including air, land, and maritime travel, in addition to cooperation in education, higher education, customs, and the healthcare sector.

A key outcome of the meetings was progress toward resolving labor-related issues, especially those concerning medical personnel working in Libya. Both sides agreed on steps aimed at improving working conditions and addressing administrative challenges faced by these workers, which is expected to contribute to greater stability in the sector.

Officials also emphasized the importance of strengthening consular cooperation to facilitate movement between the two countries, protect the rights of citizens abroad, and support economic and social ties. Enhancing coordination in these areas is seen as essential for improving services and reducing bureaucratic obstacles.
