The General Union of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture in Libya held talks with Egypt’s Minister of Transport, Kamel Al-Wazir, to strengthen cooperation and improve transport systems between the two countries.
The meeting took place at the Egyptian Ministry of Transport headquarters in Cairo’s New Administrative Capital on Monday evening. The Libyan delegation was led by Mohamed Al-Raied, head of the General Union of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture in Libya.
According to a statement published by the union on Facebook, discussions focused on activating transport agreements aimed at facilitating the movement of people and goods between Libya and Egypt. The two sides also explored ways to improve land connectivity and enhance related logistics services.
The talks additionally covered plans to develop transport infrastructure and strengthen land links with neighboring African countries. Both sides discussed exchanging technical expertise in the fields of land, maritime, and air transport.
Al-Raied stressed the importance of deepening Libyan-Egyptian economic integration, saying that easing the movement of travelers and cargo is a key pillar for supporting economic growth and expanding investment opportunities between the two countries.
For his part, Egypt’s Minister of Transport Kamel Al-Wazir reaffirmed Cairo’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Libya across all transport sectors. He also underlined the importance of removing obstacles facing passenger and cargo movement.
The meeting comes amid ongoing efforts by Libya and Egypt to expand economic cooperation, increase trade exchange, and improve regional connectivity through infrastructure and logistics development projects.
