The Tripoli Court of Appeal has postponed proceedings in the Bu Slim prison case once again, scheduling the next hearing for June 14, 2026, while maintaining the detention of all defendants involved in the case.

The decision was issued during the sixteenth session of the Second Criminal Chamber, which continues to handle one of Libya’s most sensitive and long-standing judicial cases. Several defendants attended the hearing remotely through video conference, including former intelligence chief Abdullah Al-Senussi and former senior security official Mansour Dhao, alongside other accused individuals currently held in custody.

Defense lawyers and relatives of victims were also present during the session. Families of the victims voiced frustration over the repeated delays and the slow pace of judicial proceedings, calling for faster legal action and long-awaited accountability for those responsible.

The case dates back nearly 29 years to the Bu Slim prison killings, during which approximately 1,269 detainees were reportedly killed inside the prison following a violent crackdown against prisoners opposed to the rule of former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, according to accounts included in the case file.

The case remains under review after Libya’s Supreme Court overturned an earlier ruling that questioned the jurisdiction of the Tripoli Court of Appeal. The Supreme Court later referred the file back to the appeals court to continue legal proceedings and complete the judicial process.
