Libya has been selected to host the Arab Mini Football Clubs Championship in September, following a decision by the Arab Mini Football Federation aimed at expanding the sport across the region and strengthening cooperation among member associations.
The decision was approved during the federation’s second meeting, held via video conference, with representatives from the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, Tunisia, Mauritania, Sudan, Iraq, Libya and Syria participating in the discussions.
The federation also approved a series of development programmes for referees and coaches, alongside the launch of its new official website and communication platforms. The initiatives form part of a broader strategy to enhance the sport’s visibility and improve coordination among member federations.
Officials agreed to study the possibility of staging the Arab Mini Football National Teams Championship in either November 2026 or April 2027, taking into account the schedule of upcoming Asian and international competitions.
The federation further endorsed plans to organise between three and four annual training courses and professional development forums for referees and coaches. Several member states have submitted requests to host these programmes, with the final venues expected to be announced at a later stage.
Speaking after the meeting, Saeed Al-Ajil said the federation’s upcoming calendar includes the Asian Nations Cup in Indonesia in August, followed by the Arab Clubs Championship in Libya in September.
The schedule will then continue with the Women’s and Under-23 World Cups in Croatia in October, before the African Nations Championship in January 2027.
Al-Ajil said November 2026 and April 2027 remain the most suitable options for organising the Arab National Teams Championship. He also highlighted proposals submitted by member states regarding the federation’s future competition schedule and the work of specialised committees covering competitions, marketing, finance and media.
He praised the spirit of cooperation among member nations, saying continued coordination would play a key role in expanding the sport’s popularity across the Arab world and supporting the federation’s long-term development objectives.
