The head of the Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Committee in Libya’s House of Representatives, Yousef Al-Agouri, stressed that Libya’s stability is closely linked to developments across the wider region, emphasizing the importance of dialogue, cooperation, and coordinated efforts to address common challenges.

Al-Agouri made the remarks during the opening of the conference “Libya: The Regional Landscape and Opportunities for Stability,” organized by the Peacebuilding and Crisis Management Center in Benghazi.

The event was attended by senior officials, diplomats, academics, researchers, and international experts to discuss regional developments and their impact on Libya’s future.

In his opening speech, Al-Agouri noted that the conference comes at a time of rapid political and security changes across the region. He emphasized that Libya’s stability cannot be separated from its regional environment, arguing that developments in neighboring countries and across North Africa continue to influence the country’s political, economic, and security landscape.

The Libyan MP called for strengthening dialogue and exchanging expertise among regional and international partners to help formulate practical solutions to current challenges. He stressed that cooperation and mutual understanding are essential for promoting stability and creating opportunities for sustainable development.

The conference attracted a wide range of participants, including representatives of diplomatic missions, local authorities, international organizations, and research institutions. Discussions focused on regional security dynamics, migration, conflict resolution, economic cooperation, and prospects for peacebuilding in Libya and the broader region.

Al-Agouri praised the efforts of the Peacebuilding and Crisis Management Center for organizing the event and providing a platform for constructive discussion among policymakers and experts.

He expressed hope that the conference would produce recommendations capable of supporting peace initiatives, strengthening regional partnerships, and advancing efforts aimed at achieving long-term stability.
