The Scientific Committee at Benghazi Medical Center has approved new measures aimed at improving health services, strengthening clinical performance and raising the quality of patient care inside the centre.
The committee held its second regular meeting of 2026 under the chairmanship of Professor Khaled Al-Jazwi, with the participation of committee members, department heads and specialised committees. The meeting reviewed a number of scientific and technical files linked to medical service development and internal performance improvement.
During the meeting, the committee approved an integrated mechanism for dealing with cases of acute stroke. The new system is designed to speed up diagnosis and medical intervention in line with the latest clinical protocols.
The committee also approved a training plan for medical teams involved in the stroke response programme, with the aim of ensuring effective implementation and improving the centre’s ability to deal with urgent neurological cases.
The meeting also adopted a mechanism to regulate the admission of patients and the performance of vascular surgery procedures, particularly complex and critical operations. The move is intended to improve the quality of care, support patient safety and ensure better organisation of surgical services.
The committee also discussed a proposal to establish a digital pathology unit, known as Telepathology, within the histology department. The project received initial approval, with a recommendation to prepare a full implementation study before moving ahead with the next stages.
The meeting reviewed the work of the complications committee and discussed mechanisms to improve clinical performance and enhance the quality of services provided to patients.
The approved measures reflect Benghazi Medical Center’s efforts to modernise medical services, improve emergency response, develop specialised care and introduce digital solutions into clinical practice.
