Germany: Libyan Conflict Cannot be Resolved Without Russia

The German Foreign Minister, Heiko Maas, announced on Saturday that only with the participation of Russia can the conflicts in Libya, Syria and Ukraine be resolved, in addition to the situation in Belarus, Nagorno-Karabakh and Venezuela. The German top diplomat noted that ending the dialogue with Moscow would be impossible.

The German minister said in an interview with the German media editorial group, “We are sitting at the same table with Russia in the United Nations Security Council, and in the Berlin formula regarding Libya, as well as the Ukraine issue. All of these formulas are devoted to finding solutions to end wars.

“There can be no end to the dialogue with Moscow. Too many people around the world depend on the international community, in dialogue with Russia, to ensure an end to these conflicts,” Maas explained.

Maas also pointed out that no one believes in the beginning of a new “ice age” in relations between Germany and Russia, while admitting that relations between the two countries “remain difficult.”
