The Greater Benghazi Joint Security Room evacuated many of the buildings that military units are using as their headquarters in the city.

The committee emerging from the security room is headed by the Director of Criminal Investigation, the Commander of the Military Police and officers from the Tariq Bin Ziyad Brigade, the 106 Brigade, the 166 Infantry Brigade, and the Military Intelligence Department. The evacuation is part of instructions laid out by the Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar.

The Interim Government’s Ministry of Interior clarified that the commanders of the various military units voluntarily evacuated their headquarters. They have now moved to the military camps on the outskirts of the city. The head of the committee, Colonel Salah Huwaidi, saluted all the commanders and members of the units for the voluntary surrender of their bases.

The committee also evacuated military headquarters in the areas of Sayeda Aisha, Al-Baraka, Boudzira, and Al-Sabri. It confirmed that its work will continue until the city is evacuated from all armed units. This is so that the police authority can perform its entrusted duties.

The plan comes within the LNA’s support for the Ministry of Interior in enforcing law and order, eliminating crime, and arresting all perpetrators and outlaws within the city.
